Restaurant Review: Habitat

Two weekends ago I had the chance to have lunch with some fantastic bloggers at a great restaurant. This wasn’t my first time being in the Fairmont but it was my first time dining at Habitat and it was a pleasant experience.

From the get- go the service was impeccable. Our server was very friendly and attentive pouring us water out of a frog- shaped pitcher. She mentioned that we could order anything off the menu or try their Executive Express Lunch for only $16. Many of us opted for the latter. At first I thought the express lunch was only available for Restaurant Week, but it turns out you can order this any day of the week. It consists of 4 small courses including: soup, salad, entree and dessert.

I’ll be honest I was a bad blogger because I failed to write down what each item was but I can describe what it tasted like! The soup may have been their Cream of Tomato soup because it definitely tasted as such. It was pretty good but there was something in it that made it taste like there was too much vinegar. I’m not sure if that was the exact ingredient but I didn’t love the aftertaste let’s put it that way.

The salad was great! It consisted of avocado, cherry tomatoes and this delicious chipotle ranch dressing. It reminded me of a wedge salad because of the way the lettuce was shaped. The entree was a fish taco made with mahi mahi. It was mixed with an interesting slaw mix and an avocado crema. I wasn’t a huge fan of the slaw mixture as I have had better kinds elsewhere, but I love fish tacos anyday!

The dessert was a mini Oreo cheesecake which was phenomenal. Really nothing to say about it! After our meal we were invited to take a tour of the whole kitchen which was pretty amazing. While on the tour we got to sample a Parmesan Bruschetta Cup that was being made for a wedding later that evening. These were good as well.

My experience with Habitat was generally good. I probably would try different menu items next time to mix things up but I definitely don’t have any major complaints!

FYI, check out these fab blogging gals….
