Spring and summer are upon us, which means my favorite season for shoes is here. Open Toed Shoe Season! Sandals, flip flops, peep toes, wedges, and strappy high heels in vibrant colors are hitting shoe stores. I’d like to high light a few of my favorite styles and brands and how to make them staples in your summer wardrobe.
Fashionista Stacy London would not approve of my saying this, but you can make flip flops work with just about any outfit for almost any occasion. Almost. You just need to own the right pair.
These flips (Evania by Nine West) are the perfect example. These run $69, but you can find something comparable for a lot less at stores like Target, Pay Less, Kohls, or even the Nine West store at the Tanger Outlet in Washington County.
A pair like this can go with just about anything: cropped denim and a cute halter top, a casual sundress, or a skirt and top. You can dress them up or down.
Another fun summer choice that any girl should be able to walk in is a strappy wedge. They’re comfortable enough to be worn for being outdoors all day, like walking around Rib Fest or the South Side Street Fair. They come in styles from dressy to super casual, so they are fine to wear to picnics, parties and even sporting events.
It wouldn’t be summer if there wasn’t at least one wedding on your calendar. Don’t be boring. Be bold.

If you cannot afford Steve Madden shoes, his Madden Girl line is completely reasonable for someone on a budget. They are great quality and you will get a ton of wear out of them for under $50. I have 3 pairs of Madden Girl heels that have been with me for 3 or more years and they are still in fantastic shape! I hope that I have shown that the same old boring brown, black and white sandals for the summer are not staples in your wardrobe! As long as you walk with confidence, these shoes are bound to make you look and feel more audacious and sexy!
